How to Verify Your Google Business Profile With an Office
Google Business Profile verification for fence companies with an office in the United States.
The verification video a fence company with an office or shop needs: what to prove, the route to film, why Google rejects videos and what to do next.If your fence company has its own office, shop or yard, verification is quick and easy. Google only needs you to prove three things: that your business really has this name, that it’s really at this address, and that you really run it. Do that in one short video and the review usually comes back within a few days.
Verification is what puts your profile on Google Maps and in local search. Until it’s done, homeowners can’t find you there.
Google changes its menus from time to time. If a button below looks different on your screen, follow what Google shows you. The rules for the video stay the same.
The three things you have to prove
1. The name
Google needs to see your business name on the building. The easiest way: a permanent sign on your door. If you don’t have one, order a small plastic or acrylic sign, about 18 × 12 inches, with your business name, your hours and your address if it fits. Hang it on the door before you film.
The name on the sign has to match the name on your profile exactly, including LLC, Inc. and abbreviations. Paper or handwritten signs taped to a window get rejected.
2. The address
Google ties the video to your address through what it sees around you: street signs, building and house numbers, the signs of nearby businesses, landmarks. An unmarked street with nothing readable won’t pass.
3. That you run the business
This is the hardest part, and where most videos fail. Anyone can film a sign. Only the owner or staff can do these things:
- Take out your keys and unlock the front door
- Walk in and open a door inside, like an office, a storage room or a room with your tools and equipment
- Open the cash register, or turn on the office computer or your POS
More proof is never a minus. Use everything you have.
If your profile doesn’t show an address yet
If your profile is set up as a service-area business with no address shown, switch it to your office first:
- Sign in with the Google account that owns the profile and open it on Google or in the Google app
- Click Edit profile, then open the Location tab
- Turn on Show business address to customers
- Enter the street address exactly as it appears on your sign and your license, with the suite or unit number on the second line
- Leave your service areas as they are; an address and a service area can coexist
- Save, and if Google asks you to confirm the map pin, drop it on the building entrance
Saving the new address sends the profile back into verification.
Start the verification
- Click Get verified on your profile
- Pick a method Google offers: phone, text, email, video or postcard. Take an instant one if it’s there. After an address change it’s usually video
- Enter the code you receive, or record the video
Codes clear in minutes. A video review takes up to 5 business days, a postcard up to 14 days. Don’t edit your business name or address while verification is pending. It cancels the request and restarts the process.
How to film the video
Plan the route once, then film it all in one continuous take. Move the camera slowly, especially on anything that can be read. Google’s system analyzes the footage, so give it time to see everything.
- Outside. Start on the street. Slowly film around you: the street sign, the building number, the businesses next door.
- The entrance. Show your sign with the business name, hold it in frame for a moment.
- The keys. Show the keys in your hand, unlock the front door and walk in.
- Inside. Show the space, then open another door inside: your office, a storage room or where your tools are.
- Extra proof. Open the register or turn on the computer, if you have them.
Rules Google rejects videos for
Format
- Record live through the profile on your phone (Get verified → Video). Pre-recorded uploads are rejected
- One continuous clip: no cuts, no pauses, no editing
- 30 seconds to about 2 minutes. Over 3 minutes risks rejection
- GPS on, camera and microphone access allowed
- Signed in with the Google account that manages the profile
- Daylight, steady hands, stable connection. Don’t drop the phone toward the floor
Don’t film
- People’s faces: wait until they’re out of the shot
- Voices or conversations: film during quiet hours
- Bank, tax or ID numbers: cover the sensitive parts of any document
- Anything that doesn’t match your profile name or address
If it gets rejected
About half of first attempts get rejected, almost always because the sign doesn’t match the profile name or there’s no proof that you run the place. Video quality is rarely the problem.
Don’t upload the same video again. It will fail again. Fix the specific gap first, then record a fresh take with more proof: extra documents, more equipment, different angles.
FAQ
How long does Google Business Profile verification take for a fence company?
A code by phone, text or email clears in minutes. A video review takes up to 5 business days, and a postcard up to 14 days.
What do I need to show in the Google verification video for my fence business?
Three things: your address (street signs, building number, nearby businesses), your business name (a permanent sign matching your profile), and that you run it (unlocking the door, opening an inside room, the register or computer).
Do I need a sign on my office to verify my Google Business Profile?
Yes, it’s the simplest way to prove the name. A small plastic or acrylic sign, about 18 × 12 inches, with your name, hours and address works. Paper or handwritten signs get rejected.
Does the sign have to match my Google Business Profile name exactly?
Yes, including LLC, Inc. and abbreviations. A mismatch between the sign and the profile name is one of the most common reasons videos get rejected.
Can I upload a video I already recorded for Google verification?
No. The video has to be recorded live through the profile on your phone. Pre-recorded uploads are rejected.
How long should the Google verification video be?
30 seconds to about 2 minutes, in one continuous take. Videos over 3 minutes risk rejection.
Why was my Google Business Profile verification video rejected?
Usually because the sign didn’t match the profile name or there was no proof you run the business. Cuts, people in the shot or details that don’t match the address also cause rejections.
What should I do if Google rejects my verification video?
Don’t upload the same video again. Fix the specific gap, then record a fresh take with more proof: extra documents, more equipment, different angles.
Can I change my business address while verification is pending?
No. Editing the business name or address while verification is pending cancels the request and restarts the process.
Should my fence company show its office address on Google?
If you have a real office, shop or yard, yes. You can show the address and keep your service areas listed at the same time.
